ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the clinical effect and safety of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) in the treatment of liver cirrhosis with esophageal variceal bleeding.Methods:86 cases of cirrhotic patients with esophageal and gastric varices bleeding admitted in our hospital from August 2013 to April 2015 were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the observation group with 43 cases in each group. The control group underwent percutaneous transhepatic coronary vein embolization (PTVE) treatment, while the observation group were treated with TIPS.The success rate of surgery, the incidence of various complications, the long-term survival rate and the symptoms and the changes of liver function after operation were compared between the two groups of patients. Results:The portal vein pressure after operation in the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P=0.00),at 3 months,6 months and 12 months after operation, the rebleeding rate in the observation group were significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05),but the incidence of hepatic encephalopathy showed no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05);before operation and at 6 months and 12 months after operation, the Child-Pugh score, serum TBIL,DBIL levels showed no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05),at 3 months after operation, the Child-Pugh score, serum TBIL,DBIL levels in the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.01);the 1 year survival rate showed no significant difference between two groups (P=0.72).Conclusion:TIPS could effectively improve the symptoms of varicose veins, better on liver function damage, and enhance the long-term survival high rate with high safely in the treatment of esophageal variceal bleeding in patients with cirrhosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the differences of the cell ultrastucture of normal mouse hatched blastocysts and their dormant ones cultured in vitro after freezing-thawing, and to explore whether the dor-mant embryos have a better anti-freezing shock property than the normal hatched mouse embryos .Methods By transmis-sion electron microscopy , the ultrastructure of these two types of mouse embryos was observed and analyzed .Results By comparative analysis of their ultrastructure , the results showed that the dormant embryos before freezing are being austerity and with lower energy metabolism at a ‘ground state ’ .After freezing-thawing and culture , their cellular structure seemed to be similar to that of the normal embryos cultured in vitro before freezing. However, after freezing-thawing and culture, the number of mitochondria decreased , the nuclei were loose , and their heterochromatin also increased .Conclusions From the ultrastructural observation , compared with the normal mouse hatched embryos , the cellular state of dormant mouse em-bryos after freezing-thawing is more favorable for material storage and energy metabolism , thus, indicating that they have a better anti-freezing property than normal hatched embryos .

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the chemical constituents of Lappula echinata and determine the antibacterial activity. Methods A new quinolone alkaloid was isolated from the BuOH extract of L.echinata by silica gel column chromatography and gel column chromatography. Its structure was identified by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, 2D-NMR, HR-MS, UV, and IR spectral data analysis. Its antibacterial activity was determined by KB method. Results A new quinoloe alkaloid named 8-methoxy-4-quinolone-2-caboxylic acid was isolated from L.echinata and was found to have antibacterial activity on Pseudomonas pyocyanea ATCC 27853, EPEC O111, pneumobacillus and Staphylococcus epidermidis. Conclusion This is a new compound with antibacterial activity.
